Transitioning from the military to a civilian career can be challenging for veterans. The Northern Virginia Technology Council Veterans Employment Initiative has re-launched a program to help service members, military spouses and veterans transitioning to civilian life advance their career prospects and better position them to be more competitive when seeking employment and pursuing careers in Northern Virginia.

Participants will be connected with recruiters, volunteer veterans who are currently employed in the region’s technology sector, and a small group of their peers in VETWORKING teams. Each team of veterans will receive support, guidance, and advice as they navigate from active duty to job placement with mentorship through some of the obstacles. In addition to facilitating group discussions and support, the program will link VETWORKING participants with Veterans Service Organizations, local, state, and federal agencies, educational institutions and other services as necessary to further develop and prepare you for successful career engagement in the technology industry.

With a focus on helping veterans understand and transition into the civilian workplace, the NVTC VETWORKING program has been designed to focus on connecting job seekers with employers, to provide high impact results not only to participants, but also to our local community as a whole.

What is expected of participants?

  • Attend monthly VETWORKING team meetings.
VETWORKING teams will meet once a month to focus on personal goals and exchange knowledge in a small group setting.
